Hydraulic & Mechanical Engineer
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To carry out repairs on all mechanical domestic and hydraulic equipment onboard North star vessels and repair workshop. Repairs will include External customers
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports directly to the Technical Manager
KEY WORK AREAS RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Ensuring all shipboard mechanical operated and maintained in a safe, efficient manner.
- Maintaining all tools and equipment is maintained to a high standard.
- Keeping company approved Planned Maintenance / Purchasing / systems are kept fully up to date
- Job reports are completed after every Job is completed
- All material used for the Job is allocated against that Job
- To ensure all appropriate PTW’s, Isolations, Risk Assessments, Method Statements are in accordance with the tasks in hand. Stop The Job must be initiated should any unsafe practices be observed.
- Providing out-of-hours service, as and when required.
- Actively promoting and progressing the company QHSE Policies.
- Stop the job when required
- To assist with other divisions should that be required
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Daily contact with fellow employees and management of North Star Shipping.
- Daily communication with management, crews, clients and suppliers both verbal and written.
QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:
- Hydraulic/Mechanical Engineer with relevant onshore/offshore support experience.
- Experience in a similar role preferred.

- Ability to work on own initiative or part of a team, and under pressure
- Mature, professional approach to work
- Patience in order to work to tight deadlines
